Block of the Month

GloryQuilts 2026 Block of the Month - Celebration Quilt

The Celebration Quilt

Join us for a year-long virtual quilt class! The GloryQuilts Block of the Month event starts in January, and it’s going to be so much fun!

The GloryQuilts Block of the Month classes are mystery quilts, which means you choose your own fabrics (with plenty of guidance!) but you won’t know exactly what the finished quilt looks like until you sew it all together. I promise… it will look great!

Over the next twelve months, you’ll piece beautiful quilt blocks, and in December, you’ll receive the instructions for assembling the blocks into a fabulous quilt top. It’s always so fun to see everyone’s finished work!

Sign up HERE for a year of quilt patterns, instructions, and fun!

You can do this!

The GloryQuilts Block of the Month is a good “skills builder” class for confident beginners who are familiar with rotary cutting and machine piecing. While some of the blocks are more challenging, they are all rotary cut and  straight-line machine piecing – no templates, curves, applique or foundation paper piecing.  No specialty rulers or tools are required. The finished quilt is 84″ X 84″, with a border option to make it 90″ X 90″ — a nice size for a queen-size bed.

How it works

This is a year-long quilt class! Every month,  you’ll receive a 12″ quilt block pattern by email.  A couple of the blocks are simpler setting blocks, and you will make several of them, but most months, you will make just one block. After you make your block, you can share it with the rest of us in the private Facebook group! If you need help at any time, you can email me or ask questions in the group.  I’ll be sharing some helpful tips and techniques in the group, too, as well as a few live videos.

Easy Fabric Selection

  • There are six different fabrics in this quilt, divided by relative value – light, medium, and dark. All of them should be low-contrast single color prints (tone on tone) or solids. Avoid large multicolor prints, stripes, plaids, and directional patterns.
  • The two dark fabrics should be similar in value (relative darkness). If one is slightly darker than the other, that one should be used as Dark #1.
  • The medium fabric and the two coordinates should be similar in value.
  • The coordinates can be two individual fabrics, or you can use a variety of similar scraps, but they should all be “medium” in value, like the main medium fabric.
  • The background fabric is your “light” fabric.
  • The dark and medium fabrics should all contrast strongly with the background fabric.

Here’s What You Will Need

  • Rotary cutting equipment
  • Sewing machine in good working order
  • Scissors, straight pins, seam ripper
  • Thread to match the background fabric
  • An iron and ironing board
  • Batting and Backing for a 84″ X 84″ or 90″ X 90″ quilt

The total cost, for all the patterns, instructions, and the group membership, is just $35 for the entire year.

NOTE: You do not need to participate in the Facebook group to make the quilt, but it’s a fun thing to do. You’ll enjoy sharing your progress and seeing how others are doing. And you’ll make new quilter friends!  All of the patterns and information is provided by email as well as in the online community.
