We may not be able to get together in person, but this year-long virtual quilt class is going to be nearly as much fun! It’s an “adventure quilt,” which means you choose your own fabrics, but you won’t know exactly what the finished quilt will look like until you sew it all together. The setting for this quilt is especially striking and attractive! I promise… it will be beautiful! Sign up HERE for a year of quilting, instruction, and fun.
You can do this!
The Adventure Quilt is suitable for a confident beginner with some rotary cutting and machine piecing experience. It features 12” blocks that are slightly more complex than those used in the Discovery Quilt. Most of them are my original designs (but still traditional in style.) In addition to the monthly blocks, you will make twenty simple (identical) setting blocks. There are no curved seams, templates, applique, or foundation-pieced blocks. This quilt is made with three main fabrics and three coordinates. It measures 76” X 93”.
Easy Fabric Selection!

There are three main fabrics in this quilt. They must appear LIGHT>MEDIUM>DARK in relation to each other, with good contrast between each of them. Then choose three or more secondary coordinate fabrics for use in the monthly blocks.
- 2 ¾ yd. Light fabric – a semi-solid fabric
- 2 ¾ yd. Medium fabric – a multicolor print fabric, used throughout the quilt, for the border, and for the binding.
- 3 ½ yd. Dark fabric – a semi-solid fabric
- 1 ½ yd total – 3-6 coordinate fabrics
Here’s What You Will Need
- Rotary cutting equipment
- Sewing machine in good working order
- Scissors, straight pins, seam ripper
- Thread to match the background fabric
- An iron and ironing board
Here’s How it Works
It’s like a year-long quilt class! The total cost, for all the patterns, instructions, and the group membership, is just $30. Every month, you’ll receive a 12″ quilt block pattern by email. After you make your block, you can share it with the rest of us in the private Facebook group! In January, you will also receive a pattern for the setting blocks. You will need to make twenty of these before you assemble the quilt in December.
If you need help at any time, you can email me or ask questions in the Facebook group. I’ll be sharing some helpful tips and techniques in the group, too. Step-by-step, throughout the year, we’ll make the quilt blocks, and near the end of the year, I’ll share the instructions for assembling your quilt blocks into a beautiful quilt top. It will be so fun to see everyone’s finished work!

NOTE: You do not need to participate in the Facebook group to make the quilt, but it will be much more enjoyable if you do!
